Haighs from one coast to the other!

Just last week Ella, Malcolm and I traveled to Vancouver to celebrate Ella's Great Grandpa's 88th birthday! It was Ella's first trip to Vancouver so there were lots of people to meet! On our first evening we had the celebratory birthday dinner; my mother in law did a roast lamb and it was delicious ...and some how we all stayed awake ...including Ella! It was probably because she was so excited about all the new toys and fun ... Grannie had EVERYTHING and more than Ella needed ... even a fire engine she could ride around the house .... she was one happy camper!

Throughout the week we met up with lots of friends whom Mal and I had not seen in over 2 years, we also got to finally meet Jack. Jack was born 3 weeks before and Ella and just 2 years previous to this visit we found out Jessica and Shawn were also expecting...it was great to surprise each other with the very same news ... I will never forget that exciting dinner at the Spaghetti factory :-)

Ella and Jack got along so well ... it was really great ...Jessica even took another day off work so that we could all spend more time together. We played with all the cool toys, went to the park and played in the snow and also had some fun with Grannie's homemade play-doh!


Mal's good friend Jerry also took an afternoon off work during the week and took us all to the Aquarium...Ella LOVED IT... as she approached the giant fish she was constantly saying "WOAH"! It was so nice of Jerry and so thoughtful as I had never been to the Aquarium in Stanley Park and as it was during the week it wasn't very busy so Ella just ran wild throughout the place :-)

There was an unusual amount of snow in Vancouver this winter so everyone there was a little out of sorts but we enjoyed it ... and even took Ella tobogganing on Cypress Mountain. We also spent an afternoon in China town and stocked up on some of our much missed Japanese favorites and T&T Supermarket!

We had such a fun time just relaxing and spending time with all the family and friends, it was really shocking how fast the week flew and before we knew it we found ourselves back in Halifax and back to work/daycare!

It sure is a long haul across this vast country but it was well worth it and next time we do it we will be 4 !! Oh my goodness the stuff ...that is all I can think about...our days of travelling light are definitely much behind us!
