Transition to daycare

As you know I will be heading back to work after the long weekend so last week Ella had five transition days at the daycare. She will be going to the daycare at my work so the fact that she will be very close to me is quite comforting.

On Monday Malcolm and I both went to the daycare with Ella and all stayed for an hour. Within minutes she was wearing a smock and into the finger painting with the other kids :-) On Tuesday I took her in around 830am; stayed for about half an hour and then took off to meet Kelly upstiars for tea. She cried a little when I left ... this was painful..but then seemed to be ok. When I went back to get her she was crying .... oh I felt terrible. We left and as we drive home she had this blank look on her face ... not crying but sad. I felt TERRIBLE ...what was I doing to my daughter! Anyhow after a much needed nap she was fine and so was I... and again we went back at 830am on Wednesday and it was a bit better. I left her until 11am and they said she was pretty good ...wouldn't take her bottle but ate ok....and seemed pretty happy most of the morning.

Thursday - 830 -2pm ... cried a little when I left but by the time I finished signing her in I could hear (she could not see me) that she had stopped and was playing :-)! I went in at 2 and she was sitting at the table with another little boy eating apples, laughing and clapping her hands! She smiled when she saw me but continued eating ... AHHH this was an incredible feeling!! Ella was truly comfortable in her surroundings ...still only an hour nap but she was content!

Friday - 830- 3pm ... No crying when I left, she ate all her lunch and took her bottle ...and was happy when I went to get her!! Yahooo!

I've got to say that this week was so difficult, I had so much to do but felt lost and was sure I was wandering in circles. At times I felt like I was missing my right arm ... kind of an ache that just would not go away. I am sure that this whole transition to daycare will be harder for me than for Ella ... but knowing that she was happy by the end of the week makes even thinking about work next week a little bit easier!

Will let you know how it goes!!!

Happy CANADA Day!!
