Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen put on a show last night and Jill, Chris and I went to it. It was absolutely breathtaking. Mr. Cohens voice is as strong as ever and his band backed him up flawlessly. They played songs from all of the 4 decades he has been singing with less emphasis on the 70's years and his "Death of a ladies Man" album.

He was so humble, removing his hat and taking in the adulation of the crowd before quickly jumping to the next number. Often he would urge us to sit down, "we've got more songs!".

He came out for 3 ovations, always moving swiftly off stage and then not 20 seconds later jogging back into place by his microphone. The Halifax audience was very appreciative. I have never seen such a focused group.

I feel absolutely complete after this concert.

In these days of tragedy and seemingly with the apocalypse upon us, his words are more valuable than ever.

"Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St Paul
Give me Christ
or give me Hiroshima
Destroy another fetus now
We don't like children anyhow
I've seen the future, baby:
it is murder"
