Lucky girl

Well when reading the subject line I am sure many of you thought I may be referring to Ella but in this case I am talking about myself, I am a really lucky girl.

Last night Malcolm and I hosted a welcome home dinner party for our good friends Petra and Shane who have recently moved back to Halifax after living in Toronto for 8 years. I had always hoped that the day would come when they would come home but I must admit after about year 4 or 5 I started to kinda suck it up that it may never happen, fortunately I was wrong!

My parents graciously took Ella OVER NIGHT (thank you Grandma and Grandpa!) while I got to spend a fabulous evening with my husband & closest friends. We had an awesome 3 course meal that included a few desserts (YUM!) and lasted all evening ..Fortunately my wonderful friends all contributed so it was most enjoyable for me too :-)!

The reason I feel so lucky is that unlike many other people I know I have this amazing group of girlfriends that I have known for 15-25 yrs .... seems unreal as we have all lived in various places and at times took different paths but now as we enter the journey of marriage and parenting we find ourselves all back together again. Its like things have come full circle and as having Ella was the most exciting experience of my life having my bestest friends take this same journey with me makes me feel beyond lucky!

What more could a person want but a fun loving husband (and GREAT Daddy), 2 sets of caring parents who are SO incredibly helpful, lots of cool siblings doing an awesome job of keeping in touch from around the world and the most amazing friends who have or are planning to have amazing kids!!

Perhaps its this whole "being a Mom" thing that has made me more emotionally expressive but I gotta say I feel pretty damn lucky to be sharing my journey with such an awesome group of people.

Thanks ... I love all of you so very much!
